For Pakistan, Peace is Non-Negotiable Amid Regional Threats

Pakistan reaffirms its principled commitment to peace, stability, and good relations with neighboring countries, particularly Afghanistan. Recent statements attributed to Haqqani acknowledge that Pakistan is an Islamic neighboring country and affirm that neither chaos nor bloodshed is desired whether within national borders or across the wider Islamic neighborhood. Pakistan welcomes such recognition, provided it is matched by concrete actions.

If there is genuine seriousness regarding peace between Pakistan and Afghanistan, one point must remain unequivocally clear: Pakistan neither seeks war nor aims to destabilize any neighboring state. Our position has always been consistent, transparent, and rooted in the principles of sovereignty, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence.

At the same time, Pakistan’s concerns regarding security are legitimate and well-founded. We categorically reject the hosting, training, or facilitation of hostile elements who are sent across borders to carry out acts of violence. For decades, such actions have resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent men, women, and children particularly in Pakistan’s tribal regions under the false and dangerous slogan of “Shari’ah.”

The tribal people of Pakistan are among the most deeply rooted Islamic communities in the world. Their faith is authentic, lived, and grounded in centuries of Islamic tradition far more so than that of many self-proclaimed “strict” extremists who distort religion for violent ends. Islam does not teach the killing of innocents. The slaughter of those closer to Allah is not an Islamic doctrine; it is the ideology of non-believers and extremists who stand in direct opposition to true Islamic values.

The threat confronting the region today comes from Khariji terrorists indoctrinated individuals who operate as tools of their handlers. These actors commit murder blindly, without understanding whether their actions align with Islam or constitute clear acts of kufr. Their violence serves no religious purpose and brings only suffering, division, and instability.

Pakistan firmly believes that peace is achievable. Dialogue, mutual respect, and responsible conduct can pave the way for stability between Pakistan and Afghanistan. However, peace cannot coexist with sanctuaries for bloodshed. Lasting peace requires the elimination of safe havens for violent actors and a collective commitment to preventing the misuse of religion as a justification for terror.

Pakistan remains steadfast in its resolve to protect its people, uphold the true principles of Islam, and work toward a peaceful and secure region free from extremism, violence, and the exploitation of faith for destructive agendas.
