Five Injured in Hand Grenade Attack on Tribal Elder’s House in Nowshera

At least five people, including a woman and a child, were injured when unidentified assailants hurled hand grenades at the residence of a tribal elder in Akbarpura’s Tora Bora area of Nowshera district late Saturday night.

According to police, the attackers threw two grenades at the house of tribal elder Sardar Ali. One of the explosives detonated, leaving three men, a child, and a woman injured, while the second grenade failed to explode. The blast caused partial damage to the house and sent shockwaves across the locality.

The injured, identified as members of Sardar Ali’s family, were initially shifted to a local hospital in Pabbi and later referred to Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar, due to the severity of their condition. Hospital sources confirmed that some of the victims, including Sardar Ali, his wife, and child, were in critical condition.

Police officials stated that Sardar Ali had no known enmity, raising concerns about the motives behind the attack. Investigators have launched a probe into the incident, while the unexploded grenade has been taken into custody for forensic analysis.

Sources confirmed that no case was immediately registered; however, police said an FIR would be lodged once the affected family formally approached the authorities after the treatment of the injured.
