Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir Visits National Police Academy, Reaffirms Full Support to Pakistan Police

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), visited the National Police Academy (NPA), Islamabad, where he engaged with officers of the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP). The Federal Minister for Interior and the Minister of State for Interior were also present during the visit.

Upon arrival at the National Police Academy, the Field Marshal was warmly received by the Commandant NPA and was accorded a guard of honour by a smartly turned-out police contingent. The visit commenced with the Field Marshal laying a wreath at the Police Martyrs’ Monument, followed by Fateha. He paid profound tribute to the Shuhada of the Police who laid down their lives in the line of duty while safeguarding peace, upholding the rule of law and ensuring public safety across the country. He acknowledged the unwavering courage and supreme sacrifices of police personnel who continue to confront terrorism, organized crime and complex internal security challenges with resilience and dedication.

During the visit, the Field Marshal was briefed on the School for High-Impact Elite Law Enforcement Development (SHIELD), along with various training programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing professional competence, capacity building and modernization of policing in Pakistan. He lauded the Academy’s efforts to equip police officers with contemporary skills, leadership qualities and operational preparedness required to address evolving security dynamics.

The Field Marshal also interacted with Cadet Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs), where he highlighted the pivotal role of the police as the first line of defence in protecting the lives, property and honour of citizens. He emphasized that professionalism, integrity and public service ethos must remain the defining attributes of police leadership, particularly at the grassroots level where public interaction is most frequent.

While addressing Inspectors General of Police (IGPs), Additional IGPs and senior police officials, the Field Marshal underscored the critical importance of inter-agency cooperation, intelligence sharing and adoption of modern policing practices. He stressed that fostering public trust through transparency, accountability and community engagement is essential for effective law enforcement. He remarked that a strong, professional and people-centric police force is indispensable for ensuring internal security, stability and the rule of law in the country.

The Field Marshal reaffirmed that maintaining law and order is a sacred trust placed upon the police and assured the leadership that the Armed Forces of Pakistan will always stand shoulder to shoulder with the brave and proud police personnel in the fulfillment of their duties. He commended the police for their steadfast commitment and sacrifices in safeguarding the nation.

The senior police leadership expressed gratitude for the visit and reaffirmed their resolve to further strengthen policing standards, enhance professional capacity and advance necessary institutional reforms to effectively meet contemporary and future security challenges.

The visit reflected the shared commitment of national institutions to unity of purpose, inter-agency harmony and collective efforts towards ensuring peace, security and prosperity for Pakistan.
