Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir met with Pakistan’s representative to the United Nations, Saima Saleem, and lauded her outstanding contributions in advancing the country’s diplomatic interests at the global level, the military’s media wing said on Thursday. According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting highlighted Saima Saleem’s unwavering commitment and exceptional diplomatic performance despite visual impairment, positioning her as an inspiring symbol of resilience and determination for persons with disabilities.
Field Marshal Asim Munir praised her intelligence, dedication, and steadfast resolve, stating that “Saima Saleem stands as a shining star of the nation and a living example of courage and perseverance for differently-abled individuals.” During the meeting, Ms. Saleem briefed the Army Chief on her responsibilities and initiatives at the United Nations, particularly in representing Pakistan’s stance on critical global issues. The COAS appreciated her diplomatic efforts in effectively advocating Pakistan’s position at international forums.
The Army Chief also acknowledged her efforts in exposing India’s state-sponsored terrorism in the region, noting that her courageous and principled diplomacy had brought attention to a matter of significant regional concern.
