Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), Chief of Army Staff (COAS), met with Indonesia’s Minister of Defence, Lt Gen (Retd) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, at General Headquarters (GHQ) today. The visiting minister led a high-level delegation comprising officials from Indonesia’s military and intelligence services.
During the meeting, both sides discussed enhancing bilateral defence cooperation, ongoing regional security dynamics, and explored avenues for deeper military collaboration, including training exchanges and joint initiatives.
The interaction underscored the longstanding defence partnership between Pakistan and Indonesia, rooted in mutual respect and shared strategic interests. Field Marshal Asim Munir emphasized the need for greater coordination to promote peace and stability in the region, particularly in the context of emerging security challenges.
Minister Sjamsoeddin acknowledged the professional role of the Pakistan Army in counter-terrorism efforts and reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening defence ties with Pakistan through regular engagement and institutional collaboration.
The visit reflects growing momentum in Pakistan–Indonesia defence relations and the shared resolve to contribute to regional peace and security.
