Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, undertook an official visit to the United States, where he held a series of high-level meetings with senior US political and military leadership, and engaged with the Pakistani-American community, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Sunday. According to the ISPR, during his visit, the Army Chief participated in important bilateral engagements aimed at strengthening defence cooperation and enhancing mutual understanding between Pakistan and the United States.
Field Marshal Asim Munir attended the retirement ceremony of US Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander General Michael “Erik” Kurilla in Tampa, Florida. He also joined the formal change-of-command ceremony, where Admiral Brad Cooper assumed command of CENTCOM.
The Army Chief lauded General Kurilla’s distinguished service and his role in fostering robust bilateral military ties between Pakistan and the United States. He extended his best wishes to Admiral Cooper, expressing confidence that the two armed forces would continue to work closely in addressing shared security challenges through enhanced cooperation and strategic engagement.
During the visit, Field Marshal Munir also met Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Charles Q. Brown Jr., where matters of mutual professional interest were discussed. The Army Chief invited General Brown to visit Pakistan at a mutually convenient date.
ISPR further stated that Field Marshal Munir met defence chiefs from friendly nations and held an interactive session with the Pakistani-American community. Addressing the diaspora, he urged them to remain optimistic about Pakistan’s future, play an active role in promoting investment, and contribute meaningfully to the country’s development.
The Pakistani-American community, in turn, reaffirmed its commitment to actively support Pakistan’s progress and prosperity, pledging to contribute to initiatives aimed at national growth and stability.
The visit, according to ISPR, underscored Pakistan’s commitment to deepening bilateral defence ties, enhancing multilateral military cooperation, and strengthening the bond with its overseas citizens as partners in the nation’s journey towards economic revival and security resilience.
