A Federal Constabulary (FC) officer was martyred when Khawarij opened fire on a security checkpost near the historic Samana Fort in Hangu district. According to police sources, the incident occurred near the Sangar post in the Qaum Rabia Khel area of Tehsil Ismailzai, Upper Orakzai, where the Khawarij targeted the FC position with sniper fire. The bullet struck Naib Subedar Rehmatullah in the left side of his chest, leaving him critically injured.
The wounded officer was given first aid at the post and immediately shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) Hangu, but he succumbed to his injuries on the way, the sources said. Security sources said FC personnel responded swiftly and effectively, returning fire and forcing the Khawarij to retreat. “The troops displayed remarkable courage under fire and successfully repelled the assault,” an official added.
Following the incident, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a comprehensive search operation to track down the fleeing Khawarij. Officials said the attack reflected the continuing attempts by Khawarij elements to disrupt peace and stability in the region, but reaffirmed that such cowardly acts would not shake the determination of Pakistan’s security forces or the resolve of the nation.
