Karak, Terrorists, Fitna al-Khwarij  (FAK)

Security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation against Fitna al-Khwarij  (FAK) terrorists in Karak district after receiving credible information that a group of terrorists had established a road blockade near Niki Sahib Ziarat within the limits of Khurram police station.

According to the information received by CTD, the terrorists were armed with light and heavy weapons and were carrying equipment for preparing improvised explosive devices (IEDs). They were reportedly planning to plant explosives along the roadside.

Acting on the intelligence, CTD SWAT teams, accompanied by additional personnel and equipped with modern weapons, moved towards the suspected location.

As the CTD personnel reached the area, the terrorists opened fire, prompting security personnel to take cover and launch an effective retaliatory assault.

An intense exchange of fire continued for some time. After the firing subsided, CTD personnel conducted a search of the area and found two terrorists eliminated.

The bodies were recovered along with two sub-machine guns, two hand grenades, six magazines and multiple rounds of ammunition, which were taken into custody for further investigation.

Other terrorists reportedly managed to escape under the cover of darkness. A search operation is continuing in the area to track down and apprehend the fleeing terrorists.

CTD personnel are also investigating the terrorists’ facilitators and support network as part of efforts to identify those involved in assisting the group.

The operation comes as security forces and counter-terrorism personnel continue intelligence-based operations across southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to disrupt TTP networks, recover weapons and explosives, and prevent terrorist attacks before they can be carried out.
