CLAIM: Social media accounts allegedly linked to Fitna al-Khawarij and India are circulating misleading claims that Pakistan Army personnel raised white flags at Aman Setu to beg India for water.
FACT CHECK: FALSE AND MISLEADING
The claim is based on an old video that is being circulated with a fabricated and misleading interpretation.
THE FACTS:
The video dates back to 2013 and shows Indian and Pakistani military personnel at Aman Setu raising white flags on their respective sides of the border as part of coordination arrangements for cross-border trade.
The flags were used as a communication and coordination signal to facilitate the movement of approximately 50 trucks across the border under the bilateral cross-border trade mechanism.
The white flags were therefore intended solely to ensure smooth coordination and safe movement of commercial vehicles between the two sides.
They had absolutely nothing to do with surrender, seeking assistance or begging India for water.
CONCLUSION: The viral narrative deliberately distorts the original context of the footage to create a false impression and mislead the public. An archival video from 2013 is being repackaged to advance an entirely unrelated narrative.
The public is advised to verify the original context of viral footage before sharing unsubstantiated claims or falling victim to disinformation campaigns.
VERDICT: FALSE CLAIM OLD VIDEO CIRCULATED WITH A MISLEADING CONTEXT.
