The terrorists from Fitna al-Khawarij launched a grenade attack on the Zamindara police post in the Gal area of the Maidan Circle late last night. However, the alert response of the Elite Force personnel stationed at the post thwarted the terrorists’ attempt.
According to police sources, the attackers hurled a hand grenade toward the checkpoint, but due to the swift and tactical reaction by the security personnel, the grenade failed to reach its intended target and instead landed harmlessly in nearby fields.
The militants, confronted with immediate resistance, were forced to flee the scene without causing any damage or injury.
Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, Zulfiqar Hameed, praised the courage and professionalism of the deployed officers, stating, “Our brave personnel risked their lives to protect the public and stop a potential tragedy. Such officers are a source of pride for the entire force — always at the forefront, whether in natural disasters or in the fight against terrorism.”
