Eleven Security Personnel Martyred, Several Khawarij Killed in Central Kurram Clash

At least eleven security personnel, including a Wing Commander and a Major of the paramilitary Frontier Corps, were martyred in a complex and prolonged assault carried out by Khawarij in the Central Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the sources, the incident occurred following an earlier attack on the Jogi check-post in the Marghan area two days ago. The post was visited the following day by the Wing Commander of the Orakzai Scouts  a Lieutenant Colonel-ranked officer  who was overseeing the security situation on the ground.

While returning from the visit, one of the blocking parties deployed to secure the convoy’s route came under heavy fire. The Wing Commander, demonstrating extraordinary courage and leadership, immediately turned towards the site to protect his men but was soon surrounded by the Khawarij.

A fierce exchange of fire ensued, lasting for several hours through the night until early morning. Eleven security personnel, including the Wing Commander and a Major, embraced martyrdom in the line of duty, while two others sustained injuries.

In the retaliatory response, at least nineteen Khawarij were killed, including two of their commanders  one identified as Shaheen  while several others were injured. Security forces subsequently launched a large-scale clearance and retaliatory operation in the Jamal Mela area, where the assault took place.

The region, manned by the Orakzai Scouts of the Frontier Corps, remains under strict security as search and sweep operations continue to eliminate any remaining threat.
