In a series of intelligence-based operations (IBOs) carried out on 4–5 May, Pakistan’s security forces eliminated eight Khawarij across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reaffirming their resolve to root out terrorism from the region.
In one major operation in Mir Ali, North Waziristan, three terrorists were gunned down after security forces launched an intelligence-led offensive. In a separate IBO in South Waziristan, two more terrorists were neutralized, though the operation came at a cost. Naik Mujahid Khan, aged 40 and a resident of District Kohat, embraced shahadat during a fierce exchange of fire, fighting bravely till his last breath.
Additional encounters in the Khyber and Bannu districts resulted in the killing of three more terrorists, bringing the two-day toll to eight. The terrorists killed were reportedly involved in multiple attacks on security personnel and the targeted killings of civilians.
Security forces also recovered a cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives from the militants. Ongoing sanitization operations are underway to clear remaining threats in the area.
The military reiterated its commitment to eliminating terrorism, stating that the sacrifices of brave soldiers like Naik Mujahid Khan continue to strengthen the nation’s resolve in this fight.
