Pakistan has announced a temporary pause in its ongoing “Operation Ghazab Lil-Haqq” against terrorist networks and their infrastructure in Afghanistan to coincide with the upcoming Islamic festival of Eid-ul-Fitr, the government confirmed on X.

According to Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, the pause, effective from midnight of 18/19 March to midnight of 23/24 March 2026, is being implemented both on Pakistan’s initiative and at the request of brotherly Islamic nations, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Türkiye.

The government described the gesture as one made in good faith and in line with Islamic norms, aimed at respecting the spirit of the festival. Tarar cautioned, however, that the operation would immediately resume with renewed intensity in the event of any cross-border attack, drone strike, or terrorist incident inside Pakistan.

This temporary pause underscores Pakistan’s attempt to balance counterterrorism operations with regional diplomatic considerations, while maintaining readiness to respond to any hostile actions.
