Deported to Hell: EU MP, Warns World Against Forcing Afghans into Taliban’s Grip

European Parliament Member Hannah Neumann has fiercely condemned Iran’s mass deportation of Afghan migrants, calling it a “crime unfolding in real time” as over 700,000 refugees have been forced back into Taliban-controlled Afghanistan.

She described returnees arriving at the Islam Qala border “barefoot, hungry, violated” and thrust directly into the hands of a regime known for brutality and repression. Many deportees were born in Iran, knowing nothing of the war-torn country they’re being sent to.

Neumann criticized the lack of legal review and described the deportations as forced expulsions, not migration. She warned the world must act now—before more vulnerable Afghans are pushed into Taliban control, where persecution, violence, and fear rule unchecked.
