In a major breakthrough, Delhi Police claimed to have dismantled an intricate drug trafficking network with direct links to Afghanistan. The traffickers were using the popular online game PUBG as a covert communication tool to coordinate the smuggling of narcotics into India.
Authorities seized 1,667 grams of heroin, confirmed to be of Afghan origin, along with 130 grams of unidentified chemical substances, believed to be part of the drug manufacturing process. The operation is being hailed as a significant step in curbing the flow of Afghan narcotics into India.
The investigation led to the arrest of several suspects, one of whom revealed during interrogation that he had been drawn into the trafficking ring after a failed business venture left him financially desperate. The suspect disclosed that Afghan drug dealers had approached him, offering lucrative rewards for transporting heroin to India.
Afghanistan has long been a central player in the global narcotics trade, particularly known for the large-scale production and export of heroin. The country’s strategic location, coupled with its volatile political environment, has made it a hub for international drug syndicates. Authorities are concerned that the use of online gaming platforms like PUBG for illicit activities might signal a new trend in how criminal networks operate under the radar.
The Delhi Police have vowed to continue their crackdown on drug smuggling and are now investigating potential connections between this network and other international trafficking syndicates.
