WANA, South Waziristan: At least seven people have been killed and more than 16 others injured in a suicide bombing at the Aman Committee’s office in Wana, the administrative center of South Waziristan.
The blast, which authorities say was carried out by a suspected suicide bomber, caused the roofs of two rooms to collapse, trapping several people under the rubble. The explosion triggered widespread panic, with residents reporting a violent ground shake.
Rescue operations are ongoing as emergency responders work to retrieve those still feared trapped. The injured have been rushed to nearby hospitals, and some are reported to be in critical condition.
Security forces have cordoned off the area, and an investigation into the attack is underway. Officials have yet to release the identities of the dead or wounded.
Authorities warn that the death toll may rise as more information becomes available.
