Deadly IED Blast Hits Passenger Bus in Lakki Marwat

An improvised explosive device (IED) blast targeted a passenger bus in Lakki Marwat, resulting in one fatality and injuries to several others, including women. The incident occurred near Nawar Khel Mor, within the jurisdiction of Lakki City Police Station, according to police officials.

Authorities stated that the bus was traveling from Begukhel to the Lakki Cement Factory when it was struck by the explosion. The blast caused panic in the area and brought traffic to a halt as emergency responders rushed to the scene.

Police confirmed that one person lost their life, while at least seven others, including two women, sustained injuries. Several of the injured are reported to be in critical condition and were being shifted to City Hospital Lakki Marwat for urgent medical treatment, hospital sources said.

Following the incident, law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area and launched a search and clearance operation to rule out the presence of any additional explosive material. Bomb disposal and investigation teams are examining the site to determine the nature of the device and identify those responsible.

Senior police officials condemned the attack and termed it an attempt to disrupt peace and target innocent civilians. “Such acts of violence will not deter our resolve. Those involved will be brought to justice,” a police spokesperson said.

Security across the district has been heightened as a precautionary measure, while further investigations are underway. Authorities have urged the public to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperate with law enforcement by reporting any suspicious activity.

The incident underscores ongoing security challenges in the region, even as officials reaffirm their commitment to ensuring the safety and protection of the public.
