At least one person was martyred and 12 others injured when a powerful explosion struck the main road in the Chitkan area of Panjgur district on Monday, officials said. The blast occurred near the Central Mosque, a busy location where pedestrians and vehicles are frequently present.

According to local administration and rescue sources, three of the injured are in critical condition and were shifted to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment, while others are receiving medical care for varying degrees of injuries. Security personnel and emergency responders rushed to the scene shortly after the explosion, cordoning off the area and launching a search operation.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud blast that caused panic among residents and shopkeepers in the vicinity. Several vehicles were damaged, and debris was scattered across the road, temporarily disrupting traffic in the area.

Security officials stated that preliminary investigations suggest the attack may be linked to outlawed militant groups, including the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), Baloch Liberation Front (BLF), and Baloch Republican Army (BRA). Authorities allege that such groups have been involved in targeting civilians in the past, though investigations into the exact nature and perpetrators of the attack are ongoing.

Local leaders and residents strongly condemned the incident, calling it an attack on innocent civilians and an attempt to spread fear and instability in the region. “The people of Balochistan reject violence and terrorism in all its forms,” a community elder said, urging authorities to ensure the safety of civilians and bring those responsible to justice.

Security across Panjgur has been tightened following the blast, with additional checkpoints established and patrols increased as investigations continue.
