Following a deadly attack by terrorists of Fitna al-Khawarij on police personnel in Kulachi, district Dera Ismail Khan, law enforcement agencies launched a large-scale search and strike operation, resulting in a fierce exchange of fire with khawarij.
The operation was conducted jointly by District Police and CTD, under the direct supervision of DPO Dera, Sajad Ahmad Shahzada. According to police officials, khawarij attacked the security teams using light and heavy weapons, triggering a swift and forceful response from the police.
In the ensuing gun battle, a khariji was killed, while six others were reportedly injured and escaped toward a nearby forest under the cover of darkness. The identity of the deceased is being verified. A Kalashnikov rifle, along with a magazine and ammunition, was recovered from the scene.
As part of the operation, around 20 suspects have been taken into custody for questioning.
The operation was launched in response to the recent targeted killing of police personnel in Kulachi, and reflects the ongoing resolve of security forces to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the region.
