Security forces and law enforcement agencies foiled a major terrorist attack on the Police Training School in Dera Ismail Khan late Friday night, in which six policemen, including trainees, embraced martyrdom after putting up heroic resistance against militants belonging to the Indian-backed outfit Fitna al Khwarij.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), terrorists attempted to breach the perimeter security of the Police Training School on the night of October 10–11. Their attempt was swiftly countered by the alert and resolute personnel deployed on duty. In a desperate bid, the attackers rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the school’s main gate in an effort to force entry.
Police personnel, demonstrating exceptional courage and professionalism, immediately engaged the intruders, killing three terrorists on the spot. The remaining two were cornered and later neutralised during a precise clearance operation conducted by security forces.
The intense exchange of fire, however, resulted in the martyrdom of six brave policemen, while twelve others, including trainees, sustained injuries. An innocent civilian was also injured during the attack. The ISPR stated that the terrorists desecrated the mosque inside the school premises and brutally killed the Imam Masjid who was performing his duties at the time.
“Such cowardly acts of terrorism cannot shake our national resolve. The security forces, in close coordination with law enforcement agencies, remain committed to eliminating Indian-sponsored terrorism from our soil,” the ISPR said, reaffirming that sanitization operations in the area were continuing to ensure complete security.
It added that the sacrifices of the country’s brave soldiers and civilians only strengthened the nation’s collective determination to safeguard Pakistan against all threats.
