CTD Thwarts Terror Plot, Arrests Five Militants in Karachi

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and federal intelligence agencies have foiled a terrorist plot in Karachi, officials said.

According to media reports, CTD Sindh, working alongside intelligence agencies, conducted operations in Manghopir and Kashmir Road areas, resulting in the arrest of five operatives linked to Fitna al-Khawarij (the banned TTP) and Al-Qaeda in the subcontinent.

A CTD spokesperson identified the suspects as Allah Noor and Sarfraz from the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), and Saleem, Jahanzeb, and Imdadullah from Al-Qaeda.

The spokesperson added that the militants were trained in a neighboring country and were planning attacks in Karachi. Illegal weapons were also recovered during the operations.

Cases against the arrested suspects have been registered at the CTD police station.
