CTD, SWAT Teams Eliminate Two Terrorists in Mardan Operation

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), in coordination with SWAT teams, neutralised two terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in the Kunda Pul area along Bahlol Road within the jurisdiction of Saro Shah Police Station.

According to CTD officials, the operation was launched on confirmed intelligence. The militants, riding a motorcycle, opened fire when the security personnel signalled them to stop during a search operation. The CTD and SWAT teams retaliated effectively, killing both on the spot.

The slain terrorists were identified as Nauman alias Murad alias Ghaznavi, son of Ali Murad, and Sohail alias Charsi, son of Zair Nawaz. Both were affiliated with the Fitna al-Khawarij’s Hamasi group, a militant faction operating in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

CTD sources said the two were involved in multiple terrorist incidents, including the martyrdom of Head Constable Amjad, Constable Iqrar Syed, and a minor boy, Ehtesham, as well as a grenade attack on the Bharoch police post.

Weapons recovered from the scene included two pistols, ammunition, a motorcycle, and mobile phones.

CTD officials said that under the directives of the Inspector General of Police and Additional IG Counter Terrorism Department, intelligence-based and targeted operations against terrorist networks are continuing across the province to neutralise remaining threats.
