CTD Foils Terror Plot, Explosives Seized in Bajaur Operation

One of the alarming threats in Bajaur has once again been neutralised as security forces recovered deadly explosives that have claimed lives in the recent past. The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), in coordination with security forces, carried out an intelligence-based operation in Loye Sam, Bajaur.

During the operation in Shah Gulo and surrounding areas, forces recovered two improvised explosive devices (IEDs), two fired mortar shells, and one drum (barrel) containing explosives. The bomb disposal team safely neutralised all recovered explosives. Security forces have intensified search operations in the area to ensure no other militant remains, according to sources.

This operation comes shortly after two young men were martyred in Janat Shah, Tehsil Khar, Bajaur, when they came into contact with explosives left behind by militants. Security forces have repeatedly recovered multiple explosive devices in the region, preventing what officials describe as potential large-scale catastrophes.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially adjoining tribal districts like Bajaur, had been largely cleared of militant presence through extensive counterterrorism operations. Yet, militants continue to plant landmines and IEDs across various locations before fleeing, endangering civilians and security personnel alike. During ongoing demining and clearance campaigns, five soldiers have been martyred and over a hundred personnel have sustained life-altering injuries while removing explosives.

Over 82 square kilometres of high-risk zones have been cleared out of 114 identified, yet the threat remains, with tragic incidents recurring, including recent blasts in Bajaur, Lakki Marwat, and other districts. Authorities continue to urge residents to remain extremely cautious, while Pakistan Army and security forces sustain daily operations to neutralise explosives and protect local communities.
