CTD Foils Plot, Arrests Two Khawarij in Karachi’s Manghopir

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Sindh Police, in a precision operation, arrested two members of the proscribed outfit Fitna-tul-Khawarij from Karachi’s Manghopir area, seizing weapons and thwarting a planned attack.

According to a CTD spokesperson, the arrested Khawarij were identified as Abdul Wakeel and Ajmal, both of whom had received advanced military training in Afghanistan. They are said to be close associates of the most-wanted Khawarij commander, Sharifullah, and are residents of Qilla Abdullah district in Balochistan.

Preliminary investigations suggest the suspects were dispatched to Karachi with instructions to undertake a “suspicious operation” in the city. They were awaiting specific target assignments at the time of their capture. The CTD emphasised that the arrests prevented a potentially devastating attack before it could be executed.

Recovered arms and ammunition have been sent for forensic testing, and interrogation of the suspects is underway to identify their facilitators, safe houses, and any other operatives in Karachi. Authorities believe further arrests may follow as the investigation continues.

The CTD underscored its unwavering resolve to dismantle Fitna-tul-Khawarij networks and eliminate any threats to the peace of Karachi, warning that no element plotting to destabilise the city will be spared.
