CTD Foils Major Rail Sabotage Bid, Nabs Key SRA Terrorist in Karachi

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Karachi  apprehended a hardened terrorist affiliated with the Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army (SRA) during an intelligence-based operation conducted near Ghakar Phatak area of Karachi.

According to DIG CTD Asif Ijaz Sheikh, the arrested suspect, identified as Sajjad alias Bablu, was planning to blow up the up-track of Pakistan Railways with an improvised explosive device (IED) near Bohar village in Hyderabad. He had been waiting for the delivery of explosive material over the past several days, the official added.

DIG Sheikh said the arrested terrorist is a close aide of senior SRA commanders Asghar Ali Shah and Noor Ahmad Chandio and had been receiving direct instructions from them. He was also engaged in passing messages to other members of the banned outfit, including Ghulam Shabbir Mallah, Bashir Ahmad, Sarang Ali, and Bashir Shar.

The CTD further revealed that the SRA is involved in brainwashing young individuals, encouraging them to join the group and attend its gatherings. Members of this network were also holding regular meetings with Arbab Bhel, an incarcerated militant currently lodged in Hyderabad Jail, who was reportedly providing them with logistical support, including food rations.

DIG Sheikh said that investigations are ongoing, and further arrests are expected as CTD expands its crackdown on the banned outfit’s network.
