In a major counter-terrorism breakthrough, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and a sensitive intelligence agency arrested four terrorists in Karachi who were attempting to flee via train. All four are confirmed operatives of a banned separatist militant organisation.

The arrested individuals; Muhammad Sajjad alias Shawo, Obaid Ali alias Ubaidi, Muhammad Umair Asghar, and Shakeel Ahmed, were tracked through intelligence and technical surveillance. Their arrest was part of an ongoing crackdown on terrorist networks operating in Sindh.

CTD sources say the terrorists had recently been involved in operational planning and reconnaissance missions in Hyderabad and Karachi. A weapon recovered from the suspects has been sent for forensic analysis.

Preliminary investigations link the group to multiple acts of terrorism and targeted killings. Strong evidence, including technical data, supports their involvement with a proscribed outfit, though further interrogation is ongoing.

According to CTD, the arrests are a result of coordinated intelligence efforts aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure in urban centres. The suspects were previously under surveillance and had attempted to escape after sensing imminent capture.

In recognition of the operation’s success, the Inspector General of Sindh Police has announced commendations and rewards for the CTD team.

Security officials expect more arrests in the coming days as investigations unfold.
