A cross-border incursion, in Kurram, by hostile militants aligned with ”pro-India Taliban” and the banned TTP (referred to as Fitna al-Khawarij) ended in heavy losses for the attackers after a robust and effective counter-offensive by Pakistan Army.
According to security sources, the aggression began late Tuesday evening when militants launched an unprovoked attack from across the Afghan border, reportedly aided by their Afghan Taliban backers. However, they were met with a well-prepared and vigilant Pakistani military.
In response, the Pakistan Army launched a calibrated but forceful retaliation, destroying several enemy positions. Sources say that not only were multiple border posts of the Afghan Taliban effectively targeted and neutralized, including the destruction of an armoured vehicle, but security forces also managed to take control of at least 21 enemy positions during the operation.
The sudden and heavy counteraction reportedly forced the attackers into a hasty retreat, mirroring previous failed attempts to provoke instability along the sensitive border region.
The military’s swift and decisive response has, for now, restored calm along the frontier. Sources on the ground confirmed that the border is currently quiet, with no further hostile activity reported. However, the Pakistan Army remains on high alert, maintaining full situational awareness and preparedness in case of renewed aggression.
A message from frontline commanders to the public carried a tone of calm assurance:
“We are awake, so the nation can sleep in peace.”
This latest clash highlights the ongoing volatility along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and underscores Pakistan’s resolve to defend its territorial integrity against both cross-border provocations and militant infiltration.
