The United Arab Emirates has withdrawn its military forces from Yemen after completing operations against terrorist elements.
In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Defence said that the military mission in Yemen was successfully concluded in close coordination with partners, and all troops were safely brought back. The ministry emphasized that the decision was taken independently by the UAE.
It is noteworthy that a few days earlier, Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) announced the termination of its defence agreement with the UAE and ordered Emirati forces to leave the country.
Following Yemen’s decision, Saudi Arabia urged the UAE to withdraw its troops from Yemen within 24 hours in line with the Yemeni government’s demand, and to immediately halt any military or financial support to any party.
The UAE expressed disappointment over Saudi Arabia’s statement regarding Yemen and categorically rejected all allegations.
Meanwhile, Yemen’s southern separatist group, the Southern Transitional Council (STC), announced a two-year plan aimed at establishing an independent southern state. The group also revealed plans to adopt a new constitution for the disputed southern region, stating that this move is not secession but a step toward full state sovereignty.
