MOSCOW – Abdul Hamid Khorasani, a prominent Taliban (Tajik faction) commander affiliated with the Afghan Taliban, has reportedly surfaced in Moscow, according to a photo making rounds on social media.
In the image, Khorasani can be seen silently gazing into the camera, arms folded, leaning on a railing—his unexpected appearance in Russia prompting widespread speculation.
Khorasani has long been a vocal critic of the current interim Taliban government, frequently accusing it of ethnic bias and calling it a Pashtun nationalist regime. According to his statements, non-Pashtun Taliban fighters—particularly Tajiks—and Afghan civilians, especially women, are treated with disdain, with no real value or respect accorded to them.
He has previously alleged that the Taliban leadership views non-Pashtuns as less than human, raising serious concerns about internal fractures and ethnic tensions within the group’s hierarchy.
