Construction has begun on the national memorial “Maraka-e-Haq” in Islamabad’s H-8 sector, commemorating Pakistan’s historic victory against Indian aggression, sources said.
The memorial is being built within an existing park and is planned to be transformed into a modern and attractive public space. Its design theme is inspired by the Quranic verse “Bunyan al-Marsoos”, meaning “reinforced foundation,” symbolizing the nation’s unwavering resolve and unity in the face of all challenges.
Sources said the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) has been tasked with the design and construction, while the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has provided the designated land for the project.
Work on the memorial has begun under the special directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and with government funding. The Prime Minister unveiled the design on the night of August 13–14, after which the project moved into rapid implementation.
The memorial will use world-class materials and international construction standards, aiming to honor national unity, collective sacrifices, and public pride.
According to sources, “Maraka-e-Haq” will serve as a symbol of the country’s resilience and as a prestigious addition to Islamabad’s landscape, reflecting the nation’s solidarity and pride.
