Five Terrorists Caught: Arms Haul Recovered in Major Anti-Terror Raid

Muzaffarabad, AJK – In a major breakthrough, authorities in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) have arrested the five suspects involved in the targeted killing of Constable Sajad Resham, who was martyred in a terrorist attack on October 27, 2024, at the Shujaabad police check-post in District Bagh.

Interior Minister Col (R) Waqar Ahmad Noor and Inspector General of Police Rana Abdul Jabbar confirmed that the arrests were made following an intelligence-led operation. The operation not only led to the capture of the suspects, but also to the recovery of the murder weapon, an AK-47 rifle, along with a large cache of illegal arms, ammunition, hand grenades, and detonators.

The investigation has also identified the main accused, Zarnosh, who remains at large and is believed to be hiding in the rugged terrains surrounding Bagh, Rawalakot, and Muzaffarabad. Security forces are conducting continuous search operations, and authorities remain confident of his imminent arrest.

“We are committed to bringing justice to the family of our martyred hero and will not rest until every last terrorist is neutralised,” stated Minister Waqar Noor.

IGP Rana Abdul Jabbar emphasized the unwavering determination of the AJK Police, backed by the armed forces and intelligence agencies, in the fight against terrorism. He disclosed that 28 intelligence-based operations have been carried out across the region so far.

The IGP issued a strong warning to members and facilitators of the banned extremist group Fitnah al-Khwarij (FAK), stating that no hideout—domestic or foreign—will provide them cover. “We will pursue them relentlessly,” he said, urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

The successful arrests mark a significant step forward in AJK’s ongoing anti-terror efforts, sending a clear message: those who target law enforcement will face the full force of the state.
