India’s opposition party, the Indian National Congress, has strongly criticized the central government following the deadly Pahalgam attack, calling it a result of “grave intelligence failure and serious security lapse.” The party has demanded an immediate and thorough investigation into the incident, which claimed 26 lives at a popular tourist destination in Jammu and Kashmir just three days ago.
In an official statement, the Congress party emphasized the need for a comprehensive analysis of both the intelligence shortcomings and the apparent breakdown in security. “This is a matter of public interest, and the nation deserves answers. The Modi government must be held accountable,” the statement read.
The Congress highlighted that the attack occurred in a zone that is supposedly under three-tiered security, raising serious questions about the effectiveness of the current security apparatus.
“This isn’t just a breach, it’s a complete collapse of the system,” the party said, urging the government to ensure transparency and responsibility in addressing what they termed a “critical national security failure.”
The tragic incident has reignited debate over the handling of security in conflict-prone areas, with opposition leaders pointing fingers at the central leadership for not doing enough to prevent such attacks
