In the wake of Pakistan’s successful military operation Bunyan al-Marsoos, Congress MLA Vijay Wadettiwar launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian military establishment, calling the outcome a “humiliating defeat” and exposing what he termed a catastrophic failure of national defence strategy.

Wadettiwar criticised the Modi government for extravagant military spending and poor strategic planning, citing the use of multi-million rupee missiles to intercept low-cost Pakistani drones. “Pakistan deployed thousands of inexpensive drones, some reportedly supplied by China, while India responded with overpriced technology and failed tactics,” he stated.

The Congress leader accused Modi’s administration of wasting taxpayer money, claiming, “To bring down drones worth ₹15,000, the government fired missiles costing ₹15 lakh each.” He further alleged that several Rafale fighter jets were destroyed during the operation, a fact the Modi government is allegedly suppressing.

“Modi’s war rhetoric turned into silence when the damage came to light. The Rafale deal was once a badge of pride, now the losses are being hidden,” Wadettiwar said.

Defence analysts have also weighed in, blaming Modi’s centralised and ego-driven decision-making for compromising national security. “Buying expensive weapons doesn’t win wars. Strategy does, and India’s failed,” said one senior analyst.

The Bunyan al-Marsoos operation, described by Pakistan as a defensive military initiative, has sparked political upheaval in India, with opposition parties demanding accountability and transparency over the armed forces’ preparedness and the strategic miscalculations exposed during the conflict.
