The commander of the Taliban’s Rapid Reaction Unit for Takhar province, Mullah Hebat Khan (also known as Mullah Sangin), and three of his bodyguards were killed in an attack by the National Resistance Front (NRF) forces in Baghlan province on Sunday night.
The targeted operation took place on a highway route in central Baghlan’s Company district, where the NRF forces ambushed the vehicle carrying the Taliban commander and his guards. The attack resulted in the complete destruction of the vehicle, with three weapons seized by the NRF.
According to the NRF, there were no casualties among their forces or the civilian population during the operation.
The NRF stated that their operations are part of a broader strategy to rid Afghanistan of the Taliban’s “illegitimate” control and weaken their military infrastructure across the country.
