General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, NI, NI (M), Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) of Pakistan, conducted an official visit to Bangladesh, underscoring the commitment of both nations to enhancing bilateral defence and security cooperation.
During the visit, the CJCSC held high-level meetings with H.E. Mr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor of Bangladesh, Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hassan, Chief of Naval Staff, Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, Chief of Air Staff, and Lieutenant General S. M. Kamrul Hassan, Principal Staff Officer, Armed Forces Division.
The discussions focused on the evolving global and regional security environment and reaffirmed the importance of strengthening bilateral defence and security collaboration. General Mirza highlighted Pakistan’s longstanding fraternal ties with Bangladesh and the shared determination to further deepen these relations on the principles of sovereign equality and mutual respect. Both sides expressed optimism about expanding military-to-military engagements and related initiatives.
The CJCSC also visited the School of Infantry and Tactics in Sylhet, interacting with faculty and students and sharing insights on professional development and operational excellence. The civil-military leadership of Bangladesh acknowledged the high professional standards, achievements, and sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces in the fight against terrorism.
Upon arrival at Senakunjo, a smartly turned-out military contingent presented a Guard of Honour to General Mirza, who also laid a wreath at Shikha Anirban in tribute. The visit highlights the mutual commitment of Pakistan and Bangladesh to advancing defence cooperation, enhancing regional security, and strengthening the enduring bonds of friendship between the two nations.
