A local resident was killed and a police constable injured during a gunfight between police and Khawarij in the Gwalerai area of Swat’s Matta tehsil, officials reported on Wednesday.
According to police sources, police personnel were deployed in large numbers after receiving information about the presence of militants in the area. A firefight ensued, during which the civilian tragically lost his life, highlighting the dangers faced by residents in conflict-prone zones.
The injured constable has been shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, while police continue to conduct operations in the area to apprehend the militants and ensure public safety. Authorities have urged local residents to remain cautious and cooperate with law enforcement during ongoing security operations.
