In a significant diplomatic development, China has reaffirmed its strong support for Pakistan in the fight against terrorism and its efforts to maintain regional peace and stability. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, during his high-level visit to Islamabad, emphasized that Pakistan will continue to be a top priority in China’s neighbourhood diplomacy and praised the country as a “trusted and reliable ally.”
During a joint press conference with Pakistani Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Wang Yi reiterated China’s commitment to upgrading the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), deepening cyber security cooperation, and expanding collaboration in key sectors such as industry, agriculture, and mining.
“China will continue to support Pakistan’s regional alliances and its battle against terrorism. Both countries must stand together to safeguard multilateral trade systems and ensure regional stability,” said Wang Yi.
The Chinese foreign minister expressed confidence in Pakistan’s ability to maintain a secure and business-friendly environment, which he said was crucial for long-term bilateral investment and cooperation.
Highlighting the broader regional and security implications, Wang stated, “Peace and stability in the region are our shared objectives. China is ready to work closely with Pakistan to counter evolving security threats, particularly in the context of terrorism and cyber warfare.”
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar welcomed China’s enduring support, noting that both nations reviewed all aspects of bilateral ties, including the next phase of CPEC. He also praised China’s steadfast stance on Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“We are committed to further strengthening strategic cooperation with China, especially in areas critical to national security and economic resilience,” Dar said, adding that both sides have reached consensus on key issues, including mutual support at international platforms like the UN Security Council.
As regional threats evolve, the strengthening of the Pakistan-China partnership is being seen as a cornerstone of regional counterterrorism strategy and economic development. The visit also laid the groundwork for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s upcoming visit to Beijing, signaling a new phase in the all-weather strategic partnership.
