China Backs Pakistan, Calls for Fair Probe into Deadly Pahalgam Attack

In a strong show of solidarity, China has announced full support for Pakistan following the deadly incident in Pahalgam, emphasising its understanding of Pakistan’s legitimate security concerns and endorsing efforts to safeguard Pakistan’s sovereignty and security interests.

In an official statement, the Chinese Foreign Minister reaffirmed Beijing’s firm backing for Pakistan, stressing that China fully comprehends Islamabad’s security apprehensions. He further reiterated China’s call for a fair, transparent, and timely investigation into the Pahalgam attack.

The Chinese Foreign Minister also urged both Pakistan and India to exercise maximum restraint and to resolve their differences through dialogue rather than confrontation.

The incident in Pahalgam, located in the Indian-occupied Kashmir region, occurred several days ago when unidentified gunmen opened fire, killing 26 tourists. India hastily blamed Pakistan without presenting credible evidence, subsequently suspending the Indus Waters Treaty and announcing a series of retaliatory actions.

In response, Pakistan launched a robust diplomatic offensive, halting all trade ties with India, closing its airspace to Indian airlines, and expelling Indian diplomats by declaring them persona non grata.

Following the attack, Pakistan offered an impartial international investigation and initiated an intensive diplomatic campaign, with the Deputy Prime Minister personally briefing foreign ministers worldwide on the evolving situation.
