Car Bomb Plot Targeting Syrian Capital Foiled in Joint Anti-ISIS Operation

A large-scale car bomb attack targeting the Syrian capital was successfully foiled in a joint counterterrorism operation conducted by Syrian security forces in coordination with National Intelligence Organization (Turkey).

According to security sources, the attack was allegedly planned by an ISIS-linked cell aiming to strike a sensitive installation within Damascus. The vehicle, intercepted before reaching its intended target, was reportedly loaded with high-grade explosives including TNT and military-grade C4, suggesting preparation for a high-impact urban terror strike.

During the intelligence-driven raid, three suspected members of the terrorist network were arrested. Authorities said preliminary interrogation indicates that the cell had been under surveillance for several days before the operation was executed.

Counterterrorism officials believe the plot was part of ongoing efforts by Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) affiliates to destabilize urban security environments through vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices.

Security agencies are continuing investigations to uncover possible logistical support networks and other operatives connected to the foiled attack. Further operational details are expected to be released as the inquiry progresses.
