The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police’s 2025 annual report presents a data-driven picture of an intensified counter-terrorism campaign, revealing significant increases in intelligence-led operations, arrests, and neutralisation of militant networks across the province.

According to official figures, KP Police conducted 3,277 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) during 2025, leading to the arrest of more than 1,300 terrorists. In armed encounters, 459 militants were neutralised, marking a 43 percent increase compared to the previous year. Law enforcement also apprehended 29 high-value targets with declared head money.

The report shows a sharp rise in security threats, with 1,762 terrorism-related cases registered in 2025, up 52 percent from 1,163 cases in 2024. Police installations and personnel came under 536 attacks, a 48 percent increase year-on-year. However, improved preparedness allowed police to successfully thwart 324 attacks, reflecting an 83 percent improvement over the previous year.

Despite the rise in violence, the number of police martyrs remained nearly the same as in 2024, a result attributed to enhanced protective measures, fortified police facilities, and better tactical response.

Under the National Action Plan, KP Police carried out 18,432 search-and-strike operations, detaining 80,481 suspects. During these operations, authorities recovered 30,631 weapons, including 18,701 firearms and over 508,000 rounds of ammunition, along with explosives and illegal arms.

Bomb Disposal Units neutralised 110 explosive devices, 385 hand grenades, 145 rockets, nine landmines, and 12 suicide vests, while the K9 Unit played a critical role in detecting IEDs, rocket launchers, and ammunition caches during security sweeps.

The report concludes that while the threat landscape grew more complex in 2025, KP Police’s reliance on intelligence, data analysis, and proactive operations significantly reduced terrorists’ operational capacity across the province.
