A terrorist attack in the jurisdiction of Gulbandi Police Station left Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Anwar Mehmood martyred after militants opened fire on a police team. The incident prompted security forces to launch an immediate search operation in the area to apprehend the attackers.
According to police officials, ASI Anwar Mehmood fought valiantly during the exchange of fire, shielding his fellow personnel and preventing a potential tragedy. He laid down his life in the line of duty, attaining the honour of martyrdom.
Funeral prayers for the martyred officer were held with full state honours at Daggar Police Lines on Saturday. A large number of police personnel, lawyers, journalists, welfare workers, and senior officials, including Regional Police Officer Malakand Sher Akbar, District Police Officer Buner Saud Khan, and Deputy Commissioner Buner, attended the funeral.
A police contingent presented a guard of honour, and floral wreaths were laid on the coffin by RPO Sher Akbar and DPO Saud Khan. Special prayers were offered for the elevation of the martyr’s ranks.
Following the funeral, the body was sent to his native village, Kliyari, where he was laid to rest with full official protocol.
