Colonel Muhammad Tahir, the Operation Commander responsible for the Wana Cadet College security operation, has released a video message detailing the Pakistan Army’s successful response to a terrorist attack, underscoring the courage of cadets and the precision of the forces in protecting the youth.
In his address, Colonel Tahir explained that on November 10, five Afghan terrorists attempted to breach the college, targeting students and staff. One suicide bomber detonated explosives, while others tried to force entry through the main gate. “The attackers initially attempted to take the students hostage, but thanks to the swift and professional response of the security forces, their plans were completely foiled,” he said.
The video shows Colonel Tahir describing how the terrorists were contained within a specific block, ensuring that no cadets or teachers were harmed. By around 10:30 PM, after a carefully coordinated operation lasting several hours, all attackers were neutralized.
“The cadets showed remarkable courage under fire,” Colonel Tahir noted. “Even during the chaos, they maintained discipline and composure, proving that the nation’s future is in safe hands.” He also praised the coordination between the army personnel and the college staff, highlighting the timely evacuation and protection of 550 students.
Colonel Tahir further emphasized the symbolic significance of the operation, stating that Wana Cadet College, a key educational institution established by the Pakistan Army for South Waziristan, remains untouchable to terrorist designs. “Alhamdulillah, the malicious plans of the terrorists were completely foiled,” he said.
Field Marshal Asim Munir closely monitored the operation and issued directives reinforcing that the cadets’ safety is paramount. The video message reiterated the Pakistan Army’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation’s youth and educational institutions against terrorism.
