Border Fighting Escalates as Pakistan Reports Heavy Taliban Losses

Pakistani authorities say they, during Operation Ghazab Lil Haqq, have inflicted significant losses on Afghan Taliban during recent clashes along the Pakistan-Afghanistan Attaullah Tarar stated that 641 Taliban have been killed and at least 855 wounded since the start of the fighting.

He added that Pakistani forces have destroyed 243 Taliban posts in border areas and captured at least 42 others. According to Tarar, 219 Taliban tanks, armored vehicles, artillery pieces and other equipment were also destroyed during the operations.

The minister said that air strikes have targeted at least 65 locations across Afghanistan since the clashes began. The Taliban have not yet officially responded to the figures released by the Pakistani minister. In previous incidents, the group has claimed to capture and destroy Pakistani border posts during confrontations.

Earlier, Pakistan’s armed forces continued retaliatory attacks against Afghan Taliban fighters and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan along the border. The military targeted Taliban positions in Zhob along the frontier, forcing fighters to retreat and abandon some of their positions and weapons.

According to security sources, Pakistani forces also seized Russian-made 73mm HGL-9 heavy grenade launchers from Taliban-held positions during these operations.

Taliban authorities have not yet commented on the latest reports. Observers note that the ongoing clashes reflect a continuation of escalating tensions along the border, with both sides reinforcing positions and targeting each other’s assets.
