Tensions along the Pakistan Afghanistan border in Khyber escalated after what security sources described as militant provocation, prompting a strong and effective response from security forces.
Security officials said Afghan side positions initiated firing and hostile activity in the frontier sector near the border areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In response, troops of Pakistan Army conducted artillery based retaliatory strikes targeting multiple militant posts and hideouts.
Sources claimed that the operation resulted in the destruction of several enemy positions and tactical installations. According to security data shared by field sources, two militants were killed on the spot while two others were injured and fled from their posts during the engagement.
The strikes reportedly silenced hostile firing from the Afghan side, forcing militants associated with cross border networks to abandon some forward positions.
Heavy weaponry, including artillery fire, was used during the response operation. Authorities did not report any Pakistani military casualties.
The engagement occurred in the frontier belt near the sensitive border corridor of Durand Line, an area that has witnessed periodic security incidents in recent days.
Security forces remain on high alert, continuing surveillance and defensive readiness to prevent further escalation.
Officials have not issued additional operational details regarding the identity of the militants or their group affiliation.
