BLF, Quetta, Attack on Police Officers, Responsibility, Claim

Quetta,– 10 April 2025: The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), a banned separatist group, has claimed responsibility for a recent attack on police officers in Quetta, during which weapons were also reportedly seized from security personnel.

In a statement issued to media outlets, the group’s spokesperson accused the Quetta police of being involved in what they described as “abduction-style arrests” of Baloch women and children, as well as torture and the extrajudicial killing of unarmed Baloch youth in recent days.

“The BLF hereby declares through the media that elements within the police force who are hostile to the Baloch people will now be treated in the same manner as the “occupying” Pakistani military,” the statement read. It also warned that such attacks will continue with increased intensity, based on intelligence gathered by the group.

There has been no immediate response from the Pakistani authorities regarding the claims.

The region has seen a resurgence in insurgent activity in recent months, with separatist groups frequently targeting security forces. The Pakistani government has consistently maintained that such groups are backed by foreign actors and has labelled them as terrorist organisations.
