Six coaches of the Jaffar Express derailed on Sunday after an explosion on a railway track near Mastung’s Spizand area, railway officials said. According to officials, the passenger train had departed from Quetta for Peshawar at 9am when the blast occurred as it was passing through the area. No injuries were reported among passengers.
Authorities confirmed that the explosion caused the derailment but did not damage other parts of the train. Railway officials said repair work had begun to restore traffic on the affected section. It may be recalled that a few days earlier, a similar explosion on a railway track in Sibi narrowly averted an accident involving the Jaffar Express.
