BLA’s Civilian Killings Spark Outrage, Propaganda Efforts Fail to Justify Violence

The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has intensified its campaign of violence by deliberately targeting innocent civilians across various regions of Balochistan. In a disturbing trend, the group has shifted its tactics to include attacks on non-combatant citizens, sparking widespread condemnation—even among its traditional sympathizers.

Multiple recent incidents have shown BLA operatives attacking unarmed civilians, including laborers, teachers, traders, and travelers—many of whom had no affiliation with any security agency. However, in a calculated propaganda move, the BLA has falsely portrayed these victims as members of Pakistan’s security forces, attempting to justify the killings under the guise of a so-called “freedom struggle.”

This deliberate misinformation campaign has backfired. Even individuals and groups who once expressed sympathy for BLA’s political narrative are now raising serious ethical and moral concerns over the group’s actions. By targeting civilians and manipulating facts post-attack, the BLA has crossed a dangerous line that undermines its own credibility and exposes the terrorist nature of its operations.

Security experts and analysts warn that these actions indicate a desperate strategy by a weakened militant outfit that has lost both operational focus and public support. Human rights organizations have also begun to take note, urging independent investigations into the recent wave of targeted civilian killings in Balochistan.

The growing frustration among the local population and condemnation from wider society highlights the urgent need to classify and treat such attacks as clear acts of terrorism.
