The banned militant group Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has released a new poster showing Shahmeer, the brother of Sabiha, a central figure in the so-called Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC).
The development has drawn sharp attention to BYC’s activities, which claim to advocate for human rights and missing persons but have repeatedly been accused of shielding militants under that cover.
According to the details, Shahmeer was previously portrayed as a missing person by BYC-linked circles. However, the image used in the BLA poster suggests that he was associated with the militant group. Another image used in the poster is reportedly seven years old, raising further questions about the authenticity of the claims made by such networks.
Analysts say this case once again reveals how terror outfits exploit narratives of victimhood to mislead the public and conceal their violent operations behind human rights rhetoric.
This is not the first such incident, as several individuals earlier declared “missing” have later been identified among militants killed in security operations.
