The Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), during a press conference held on January 6, 2026, announced a significant milestone in Pakistan’s national security architecture with the formal operationalization of intelligence fusion and threat assessment mechanisms at both federal and provincial levels.
At the federal level, the National Intelligence Fusion and Threat Assessment Centre (NIFTAC) has commenced full operations, while at the provincial level, corresponding Provincial Intelligence Fusion and Threat Assessment Centres (PIFTACs) have also been made functional across the country. These centers have been established to enhance real-time intelligence sharing, coordination, and threat analysis among all relevant civilian and military intelligence and law-enforcement agencies.
The DG ISPR highlighted that the creation of NIFTAC and PIFTACs represents a transformative step toward an integrated, whole-of-the-state approach to counter-terrorism, counter-extremism, and internal security. By consolidating intelligence inputs from multiple agencies under a unified framework, these centers aim to eliminate information silos, improve situational awareness, and enable swift, intelligence-driven responses to emerging threats.
Demonstrating their immediate effectiveness, the DG ISPR revealed that a major terrorist network operating in Karachi was recently dismantled as a direct result of actionable intelligence generated through these newly established fusion centers. The successful operation underscores the operational readiness and strategic value of NIFTAC and PIFTACs in pre-empting terrorist activities and safeguarding citizens.
The DG ISPR emphasized that these initiatives are part of Pakistan’s broader commitment to strengthening internal security, protecting national interests, and ensuring lasting peace and stability. He reaffirmed that intelligence-based operations, supported by seamless coordination between federal and provincial stakeholders, will remain the cornerstone of Pakistan’s counter-terrorism strategy.
The armed forces, intelligence agencies, and law-enforcement institutions, in close partnership with provincial governments, remain resolute in their mission to neutralize threats, dismantle terrorist networks, and uphold the security and prosperity of the nation.
