Bara Political Alliance Blasts KP Authorities, Urges Swift Action in Tirah

The Bara Political Alliance successfully concluded a high-level jirga today addressing the ongoing Tirah issue, convened at the request of representatives, elders, and tribal leaders from Tirah. The jirga focused on the governance failures that have exacerbated the crisis, deliberated on future strategies, and outlined a clear roadmap to restore peace, security, and justice for the affected communities.

During the proceedings, jirga members strongly criticized the provincial government for mismanagement in Tirah, highlighting corruption, political interference, and irregularities in the distribution of four billion rupees in aid to displaced families. The members also paid tribute to the security forces, acknowledging their efforts in maintaining law and order amid challenging circumstances.

The agenda of the national-level jirga was presented by Haji Shereen Afridi, former Chairman of the Bara Political Alliance. Speaking on behalf of the alliance, he emphasized:

“The problems of Tirah’s displaced families are not confined to a single area or tribe; they represent a collective national concern, and delaying a resolution any further is unacceptable.”

The Bara Political Alliance issued a unified declaration demanding immediate implementation of all agreed measures, including: Restoration of complete peace in Tirah with guarantees for sustainable security in the future. Immediate cessation of attacks by insurgents, including firing, shelling, mortar strikes, and drone attacks, which are spreading fear among civilians. Ensuring dignified return of displaced families and full implementation of promises and agreements, both in writing and practice. Transparent registration of Tirah’s affected population, free from political interference, favoritism, and corruption, with accountability for responsible officials. Provision of IDP status to all residents holding homes or property in Tirah and inclusion in all relief programs. Emergency measures to stabilize law and order in Upper Bara and the Bara Plain areas. Launch of a local peace initiative in Bara to create a secure environment for residents. Government action against kidnappings, extortion, and threats by insurgents, ensuring protection for civilians and fulfillment of constitutional responsibilities.

The alliance reiterated its unwavering solidarity with the affected families of Tirah, pledging to advocate for their rights at all forums and continue its struggle until justice and security are fully restored.

The jirga concluded with a resolute call for immediate and concrete action by the provincial authorities to address the humanitarian and security challenges in Tirah, and to uphold the rights, safety, and dignity of its residents.
